Read the Bible more! That’s it. My one New Year’s resolution. I know it is important and that’s why I want to do it. The more time I spend in God’s word, the more I love Him. I also want the kids in our church to read the Bible more. I want families in our church reading the Bible more in 2018. I trust that an investment in reading God’s Word more will produce spiritual fruit in all of our lives.
Do you have a plan? You will find countless Bible reading plans on the internet for adults, but you will not find much for kids. I am always trying to find the best resources for my own kids, and when I do, I like to share those with the parents in our church. My boys and I have been using David Murray’s Exploring the Bible: A Bible Reading Plan for Kids since October. It has been one of the best tools for getting my boys (3rd and 5th grade) to read their Bible more. I bought me a copy too, and we read it together in the morning before school. It’s simple and really doesn’t take more than 5-10 minutes. It’s $11.00 on Amazon. I highly recommend it for your school age kids.
P.S. It’s also O.K. to start resolutions on other days besides January 1. Growing closer to God is the point!
