The Sunday school at home challenge for this unit is a Family Scripture Memory Challenge.
My children and I memorize our Sunday school curriculum memory verse each unit. It’s one verse and it typically reminds all of us about what we are learning in the Bible through our Sunday school lessons. It is one verse about every 4 weeks. We all learn it together. We review it in the car, or during our devotion times. We use the Lifeway Kids app and sing songs together that also help us hide God’s Word in our heart. We learned John 3:30 last unit and simply mediating on those words, “He must increase, but I must decrease” has helped me to repent of selfishness and look for more ways to serve my family.
I hope this challenge will prompt you and your kids to memorize more Scripture. It is a challenge, so quantifying the number of verses is the only way I know how to declare a winner. But, you know it’s not really about how many verses you can cram into your short term memory. Here are some details about the challenge.
As a family, see how many new Bible verses you can learn. You can do this as a family (all together) or as individuals. If each family member memorizes different verses, it will increase your chances at winning the challenge. Adults are expected to participate. To count a verse as memorized, the verse(s) should be quoted to another family member with only one or, at the most, two helps. Use this Google FORM to submit your total number as a family before Monday, June 8th.
Check out SEEDS Family worship. These are great memory verse songs that will help your kids learn Bible verses. All the songs are word-for-word Scripture songs. Many of their songs can be viewed on RightNow media.
